Volendo dare il nostro contributo al ricordo dell'11 settembre, senza cadere in banali e retorici pietismi (sui quali ieri la tv, di stato e non, ha davvero esagerato), optiamo per lasciar parlare la musica. Ieri, durante la cerimonia presso Ground Zero (qui il sorprendente work in progress dei lavori documentato attraverso alcune webcam e qui l'attuale sito in 3D), Paul Simon ha cantato "The sound of silence", mai come in questa occasione così appropriata. Con un grande balzo nel passato arriviamo al 23 febbraio 1972, sul palco della prestigiosa Carnegie Hall dove un'allora giovane ed affascinante Joni Mitchell, un'altra rilucente stella del cantautorato USA, si esibiva in splendida solitudine, solo lei e la sua chitarra acustica, raggiunta nei bis da Graham Nash e Stephen Stills.
